Billie to slip into the Tardis?
Billie Piper has been tipped as the next Doctor Who by the current star of the show David Tennant. At the National Television Awards last week, David told a shocked audience that he would be handing over the keys to the Tardis next year. And now the actor has claimed that his former co-star Billie - who previously starred as the Doctor’s sidekick Rose Tyler - may make a perfect time lord. If Billie took the part she would also be the first ever female incarnation of the Doctor. “The fact is that the difference is a virtue with each Doctor, it’s not like you’re casting Tarzan where you’ve got to have somebody who looks good in a loin cloth,” he told BBC Breakfast yesterday (November 3rd). So there may be a real chance that the next Doctor could be going battle with the Daleks in heels. Last month Billie gave birth to her first child with husband Lawrence Fox - a son called Winston - by caesarian section.
Brand to go swashbuckling?
Russell Brand may feel as if he was made to walk the plank over the recent media debate surrounding his and Jonathan Ross’s prank phone calls to the actor Andrew Sachs, but it has now been revealed that he may really be off on a pirate adventure. According to Glamour magazine, the comedian is allegedly in calls with the producers of the next instalment of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. Russell may be set to take up the role of Captain Jack Sparrow’s brother, which will see him sharing screen space with Johnny Depp. A source told the magazine: “There couldn’t be a role more perfectly suited. There’s a lot of Jack Sparrow in his mannerisms and behaviour. Depp’s accent isn’t a million miles away from Russell’s either.” Along with Captain Jack’s dad, played by Keith Richards, the source added that it could be the “ultimate on-screen pirate family”. Meanwhile, popstar Kylie Minogue is also branching out following reports that she has been offered a comedy role in the next film by Edge of Love director John Maybury.
Love in time for Christmas?
Women are more likely to use internet dating services in order to find a short-term relationship, it has been claimed. Sean Wood, marketing manager for Easy Date, said that men as a rule tended to be more comfortable with online dating and there were more males which used these services which meant that ladies often got a lot of attention on websites as they were in the minority. He added that it was not just young, single individuals between the ages of 18 and 25 who used the sites, but also divorced or separated older individuals. “With men, when they become divorced, separated or widowed, mostly with the 40-plus generation, they find it harder to go out and socialise,” Mr Wood explained. This means such individuals frequently turn to dating sites, which may be welcome news for any ladies who are looking for love this Christmas. However, it has been revealed that ladies are now more likely to turn to the internet when they want a casual relationship rather than seeking long-term love.
Hillary thanks Glamour
Hillary Clinton received a standing ovation at last night’s (November 10th) star-studded US Glamour awards. The senator admitted that she had always been grateful to the publication as the readers had always said they liked her colourful selection of trouser suits. However, Hillary decided to glam up for the evening and took to the stage in a shiny floor-length crinkle effect ball gown. Meanwhile, Nicole Kidman, who picked up an award for her work as a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations, used her acceptance speech to gush about her hubby, country singer Keith Urban. “Three years ago I had a wonderful career. I was getting movie offers. I had an Oscar. I had beautiful children. But there was something missing; I wasn’t loved,” she told the audience. Nicole continued that then a man came along and asked if she would let him take her to Tennessee and love her. She added that Keith had told her she deserved to be loved. Meanwhile, in a recent interview with Glamour, Nicole said that her and ex-husband Tom Cruise’s adopted son Connor longed for a baby brother.
Jen speaks out
Jennifer Aniston has broken her silence for the first time on the subject of her ex-husband Brad Pitt’s relationship with Angelina Jolie. In an interview with US Vogue, the Friends star said she had only found out the pair had got together while she was still married to Brad after Angelina recently claimed it was nice her children would one day be able to see the film where their parents fell in love - Mr and Mrs Smith. Jen responded by saying Angelina’s comments were “very uncool”, the Mirror reports. “There was stuff printed there that was definitely from a time when I was unaware that it was happening. I felt that those details were a little inappropriate to discuss,” she said. However, Jen added that she had nothing but “absolute admiration” for Brad and was proud of the Hollywood heart-throb. Meanwhile, Jen’s representative has also denied rumours that the star is pregnant.
